Say Yes Student Spotlight: Madison Reynolds

Madison Reynolds

Where did you go to high school, and when did you graduate?
I went to Corcoran High School and graduated in June of 2021.

What college are you going to & what is your major(s)/minor(s)?
Now, I am matriculating at Yale University. I major in Political Science with a certificate in Education Studies.

What do you like most about college?
I like the freedom and the endless opportunities that college offers. The opportunities my college has presented to me are ones I could have never imagined having before. They are setting me up for a successful future.

What are your goals after college (career, future plans, etc.)?
After college, I hope to attend law school and possibly do a joint PhD program as well. I hope to study international law and do research on cultural heritage preservation and human rights work.

How did you learn about Say Yes Syracuse?
I learned about Say Yes Syracuse through my older sisters. I was able to see the
positive impact the program had on their education and wanted to utilize the program as well. Additionally, Upward Bound at Le Moyne College and Corcoran High School supported me in the process of navigating the application.

What does Say Yes mean to you?
Say Yes means accessibility to me. For many students, higher education seems unattainable due to financial barriers, however, Say Yes continuously helps SCSD students financially on pursuing higher education.

What advice would you give high school students who are considering seeking a college degree through Say Yes?
I would tell high school students considering a college degree through Say Yes to do it. The benefits of Say Yes will create a sound support system and make navigating the college process far more positive and accessible.

Anything else you want to add? (Fun facts, etc.)
I work at the Yale Center for British Art and am Project Leader for Yale Undergraduate Prison Project and Yale University Legal Aid Association, Internal Partnerships Director for Yale International Relations Association, Head of Criminal Justice for Amnesty International, and staff writer for Yale Review of International Studies.
