Scholarships Disbursement
To help you understand what to expect, the following information outlines how Say Yes Syracuse calculates and processes Say Yes Syracuse Tuition Scholarships for eligible students.
SUNY/CUNY Students
- Twice a year (once each semester) Say Yes Syracuse partner SUNY/CUNY colleges and universities will submit student financial aid package calculations on the school student roster to Say Yes Syracuse; mid-August for the fall semester and mid-January for the spring semester.
- The institution will apply the financial aid to the student’s account and Say Yes Syracuse will be invoiced for the remaining tuition balance owed. That amount is the amount of the Say Yes Syracuse SUNY/CUNY Tuition Scholarship that will be provided to the school for the student.
- Students will receive notification from their school regarding their complete and updated financial aid package, including the award of any Say Yes Syracuse scholarships, other scholarships and grants. Students will not receive notification from Say Yes Syracuse directly. All financial aid information, including Say Yes Syracuse SUNY/CUNY Tuition Scholarships, come from the school.
- Say Yes Syracuse SUNY/CUNY Tuition Scholarship payment disbursements to the colleges commence after the add/drop period each semester, which varies for each school. Say Yes Syracuse partner colleges and universities are aware of the Say Yes Syracuse payment disbursement timeline. This means school/classes will begin before scholarships are disbursed.
- Say Yes Syracuse will continue payment disbursements to the colleges starting in September and will continue throughout the semester until December of the fall semester and start in February ending in May/June of the spring semester. Students can view their financial student accounts via their school student portal. Most schools notify students through their school email or simply by posting a message in the student’s financial account.
- Students must adhere to all Say Yes Syracuse deadlines as well as school-determined deadlines to remain eligible for Say Yes Syracuse SUNY/CUNY Tuition Scholarship funding.
Private College Students
- Say Yes Syracuse partner private colleges and universities are the primary source of scholarship funding for eligible students attending their institutions. The determination of the actual scholarship will be made by the Say Yes Syracuse partner private colleges and universities at their discretion based on their institution income restrictions and policies. Please Note: All eligible students must complete a FAFSA and TAP application to be eligible for a Say Yes Syracuse Tuition Scholarship.
