Syracuse Post-Standard Profiles New Say Yes Syracuse Executive Director Ahmeed Turner (12/18/2017)

Ahmeed Turner, “a native Syracusan” who was named Executive Director of Say Yes Syracuse earlier this fall, is profiled today on Syracuse.com, the website of the Syracuse Post-Standard newspaper.

The article notes that since 2009, more than 3,800 graduates of the city’s public schools have gone off to college with support from Say Yes Syracuse and its partners — and that, last year, the high school graduation rate surpassed 60 percent, “the highest it’s been in 10 years.” The article adds: “Syracuse has also erased the gap between black and white students’ graduation rates.”

“One of the biggest impacts of Say Yes is having families think that college is a possibility,” Turner says.  “I wholeheartedly believe in the power of hope. It motivates people to go the next level.”
